The timeline: apply early, not the night before
The council needs time to check the location and, where relevant, install temporary signs, so the rule is simple: lodge your application more than five clear business days before your move, allowing for weekends and public holidays.
Left it later than that? Applications three to five business days out may still be accepted at the council's discretion, but they attract a priority processing fee and there is no guarantee, especially on busy streets. Where possible, apply a couple of weeks ahead, but if your move is sooner, it is still worth asking rather than assuming it is too late.
